Stayed at the Clay Hotel.
Right in the middle of Miami Beach on pedestrian only Espanola Way. Scenes from Miami Vice, The Specialist and other shows have been filmed here.
Had clean double room with aircon and TV for $58.75 incl Tax on a Wed and then $67.80 on Thursday and Friday as it was Labor Day Weekend. Had to ask to change room as the first one reeked of cigarette smoke and they happily obliged.
They have a kitchen and laundry.

Returned to Miami for 1 night before a flight and stayed at the Days Inn Miami International Airport for $57.72 incl tax. Not to be confused with the other Days Inn which is called something like Days Inn Airport North but is more expensive.
Huge massive spotless room with 2 double beds, cable TV and leather lounge chair. Free internet downstairs. It´s not near anything other than the airport but cheap and very comfortable. Another cheap chain hotel that is much better value than hostels or other budget hotels but is out the way.
