Friends of ours we met booked a room of us at the very friendly Winca's hostel.
We shared a fan cooled room between four near the pool with a private bathroom for the four of us nearby for 22 pesos each per night.
Clean and very organised, a very well run hostel in the center of town with great restaurants a few meters away. A serve yourself breakfast is included.

We then moved just around the corner to (can't remember!) for one more night. OK double fan cooled room but quite noisy with attached bathroom and local TV for 65 pesos.
