Peru, Lima

Had a big problem with accomodation in Lima.
We were arriving on a midnight flight so wanted to organise something in advance as we would be late. We wanted to stay in Miraflores

First called Flying Dog Backpackers who would´t take a reservation by phone.
We then made a reservation at Inkawasi. The person on the phone spoke good English, we explained we would be arriving late and the reservation was confirmed.

We then arrived in Lima and made our way to Miraflores to find Inkawasi closed and no-one answered our repeated ringing of the bell and banging on the door. This is pathetic service. If you don't want people arriving late at night, then just don't take the reservation.

Luckily the friendly bus driver from the airport didn't just abandon us and took us to Hostal Turistico Eiffel at Jr.Juan Fanning # 550. He asked us what we were going to pay at Inkawasi (US$25) and organised the same rate at Hostal Eiffel. The friendly English speaking receptionist said the usual rate was $30 but don't know what they actually charge as there are no prices on their website.
We had a comfortable matrimonial room with hot water, cable TV and breakfast. The hostal is near the sea and walking distance to the center of Miraflores.

It it all worked out in the end but you don't want to be hunting for accommodation at 1am in a new city in a new country. Very poor marks for Inkawasi.
